Manufacturing Engineer

Joseph Oat Corporation is seeking a professional Manufacturing Engineer to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  1. Streamlining and improving pressure vessel and heat exchanger fabrication techniques, methods,
    operations, material movement, and efficient use of space.
  2. Serve as a liaison between Joseph Oat Production Management and Design Engineering, to assure that
    Oat created drawings and manufacturing procedures correctly specify the most efficient fabrication details
    and methods of construction.
  3. Suggest new equipment and automated processes which will result in savings in cost and increasing
    production capacity.
  4. Audit all ongoing production contracts to assure that each contract and each operation is meeting or
    improving upon the estimated hours.
  5. Maintain records of various labor operations and seek continuous improvement in output and quality.

The successful candidate will most likely meet the following prerequisites:

  • Possess a BS in Engineering from a major University
  • Possess a professional Engineering license, most likely in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of industrial experience in heavy metal fabrication, preferably in
    businesses most closely paralleling Joseph Oat’s expertise.
  • Possess a Six Sigma black belt certification in Lean Manufacturing techniques, or similar training
    in a related educational discipline.
  • Have a thorough understanding of all major welding techniques (SMAW, GTAW (manual and automatic),
    GMAW, FCAW, and SAW, and most efficient joint preparation detail for each technique.
  • Understand complex fabrication drawings and be capable of structuring efficient assembly techniques for
    integrated subassemblies which proactively considers distortion, interferences, and other issues common
    to manufacturing.

The position will report directly to top management.

Drafters
Joseph Oat Corporation is an engineering and fabricating company in the business of building large pressure vessels for
chemical and power industries world wide. We have an opening for a drafter who has completed the Computer Aided
Drafting and Design Technology program at BCC. This is a full time permanent position. We are flexible with reference to
experience. We can accept a recent graduate as an entry level position and we could also hire a person who has experience
in piping and pressure vessels. 

Depending on experience level, we can offer an hourly rate of $16.00 to $21.00.

The position involves preparing drawings and bills of material that will be used for fabrication including fitup, welding, machining,
and inspection. Most importantly for our needs is a working familiarity with AutoCad, release 2005 or 2006.
