Delegation from Chinese Power Industry Visits Joseph Oat Corporation
Joseph Oat Corporation was included in the itinerary of a delegation from the Peoples Republic of China that recently visited the United States as part of a fact-finding tour related to the electrical power industry. The group of thirty-three delegates contained top-level management, government officials and policy makers from technical and economic commissions from every province in China. Joseph Oat Corporation was chosen because of its’ exemplary worldwide reputation of providing safety-related equipment to the nuclear power industry by directly working with utilities or plant designers and constructors.
The day long seminar consisted of opening remarks by the owners of Joseph Oat Corporation, presentations on such topics as the history and current status of the fleet of U.S. nuclear power plants, U.S. government regulation of plants and the revitalization of the domestic and Chinese nuclear industries. Special emphasis was placed on Joseph Oat Corporations’ location in an international seaport and our possession of a Chinese Manufacturing License. In addition, the delegation was told of our experience in fabricating pressure vessels, heat exchangers and other specialty weldments for the nuclear power and waste industries dating back to the mid 1960’s, our most recent involvement in foreign nuclear plant construction as well as being called upon by Westinghouse Electric to support their efforts in bringing the AP1000 plant design to China. The delegation was also taken to lunch which was followed by a tour of the entire Oat complex and a lengthy question and answer session. In keeping with Chinese custom, the owners of Joseph Oat and the senior leaders of the delegation exchanged gifts as expressions of gratitude and in the spirit of working together on future projects.
