Founded in 1788, Joseph Oat’s roots started in the fabrication of copper & brass plate work, and Iron parts to support the early beginnings of the industrial age in the United States.  Now, over 225 years later, we are known for innovative engineering solutions facing the chemical/petrochemical and oil & gas industries, while also providing excellent quality and service.

The equipment for the chemical/petrochemical and oil & gas industries requires specialized materials for high corrosive environments which can also experience extremely high pressures and temperatures, as well as cryogenic environments.  We have produced large and complex shell and tube heat exchangers, columns, and reactors, as well as other specialty pressure vessels for these highly corrosive and severe operational environment applications. These applications have included acetic acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, polysilicon production, offshore oil & gas drilling platforms, LNG/cryogenic production, pesticide production, PTA, and many others.

Joseph Oat’s fabrication capabilities encompass virtually all metal combinations used in these high demanding industries, including reactive metals, especially titanium, and zirconium; high nickel "super" alloys, including alloys 600, 625, 800, C-22, C-276; super austenitic and duplex stainless steels, including 904L, AL6XN, 254SMO, 2205, 2507; as well as many other materials. We also fabricate from clad materials (explosive-bonded, roll-bonded, weld overlay) of all types including stainless, nickel alloy, titanium, and zirconium.  In fact, Joseph Oat was pioneer in the use of clad titanium and zirconium as a method to provide performance reliability at a reasonable cost.
